All the way…

Channeling your life towards something productive is quite a task especially when you have become a bit lazy during this quarantine. Taking up a challenge was in itself a thrilling aspect. Then setting up a Pomodoro timer made it more exciting.

Before moving forward let me simply tell you all what Pomodoro is? Pomodoro in Italian is a tomato and this tool was invented by Francesco Cirillo in early 1980’s. Research says that a human can focus for straight 25 minutes. Similarly for doing the most important tasks you set up a Pomodoro timer for 25 minutes. During the process of doing that task we are supposed to write down all the distractions. After 25 minutes work, reward your self. This will simply increase your productivity.

As far as my experience is concerned I won’t exactly say that it was difficult, rather it was more of an eye-opener for me as number of distractions pop up into my mind. I had to write them down and shift my focus back to the work. I must acknowledge that the rewarding system after continuous 25 minutes of maintaining focus is a very successful strategy. I mean while I was reading and focusing on facts, and new ideas my mind got a lot of things (supposedly important to do at that very moment), then I had to jerk my mind and bring back my focus. But the chocolate that I get to ate after that 25 minutes slot actually built up an energy inside me to go for another round of 25 minutes work. I believe naturally we work on the mechanism of seeking rewards at the end of the day. At least your unconscious mind tends to get inclined towards those tasks that are rewarding (at least according to my experience).

Yes, I definitely plan to adopt this strategy with a more effective manner so that I am able to learn to focus on one task. I have noticed that I was able to read a lot of articles and learned new words from the newspaper than before. This is indeed a very fruitful way of doing your important and urgent tasks at priority. Firstly identify your most productive time, and then use apply this tool. I am sure that the results will prove to be much improved. I am glad that I came to know of this tool. Being realistic I might not use this technique on daily basis but I have promised myself to frequently use it for completing important and urgent tasks.
